NAIROBI, March 27 (Xinhua) -- The Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) sustained a losing streak on Tuesday as both key indices andturnover declined amid low participation by foreigners.
Turnover fell to 6.9 million dollars on a volume of 24 millionshares, down from 21 million shares worth 7.7 million dollarstraded on Monday.
The NSE 20 Share Index dropped by 9.04 points to close at3,822.12 points. On Tuesday, the index had fallen by 16.02points.
On the other hand, the NSE All Share Index (NASI) declinedfurther by 0.90 points to close at 190.54 points while the NSE 25Share Index was down by 10.75 points to close at 4,934.56.
The day's top movers were Safaricom, Kengen, Equity Bank,Barclays Bank and KenolKobil, trading 4.3 million shares, 3.9million shares, 3.1 million shares, 1.6 million shares and 1.1million shares respectively.
Foreign participation stood at 48 percent while local at 52percent, with the former mainly being net sellers.
Bond turnover increased by 41 percent to stand at 23 milliondollars, up from 16 million dollars on Monday. Enditem
